Educational support for Hunters Point Family program participants is based on The KEYS: Kujichaqulia Educational Youth Services. Kujichaqulia is the Kwanzaa principle of self-determination.
This strategy includes:
- Educational guidance, support, and tracking
- Tutoring
- Advocacy and support within the schools
- Test preparation
- Life skills workshops
- Employment readiness and placement services
In most cases, thorough and successful completion of homework is rewarded with a Friday night outing such as pizza night or a trip to the movies.
